Ayrshire College serves the whole of Ayrshire. It has three main campuses in Ayr, Kilmarnock and Kilwinning, with around 10,000 students and 800 staff.
Courses and subjects
Courses offered range from introductory programmes to HND level. All programmes are aimed at preparing students for work, and many include placements so that students can gain relevant work experience. Some courses provide direct entry into degree programmes at a number of universities.
Courses at the college are divided into the following departments: Aeronautical; Art and Design; Business; Computing; Construction; Counselling; Early Years; Engineering; ESOL, BSL and Modern Languages; Hair, Beauty, Complementary Therapies and Make-Up; Health and Social Care; Horticulture; Hospitality and Professional Cookery; Motor Vehicle; Music and Sound Production; Performing and Production Arts; Photography and Media; Renewables; Science; Social Science and Humanities; Sport and Fitness; Supported Learning; and, The Hive.
Facilities and services
Each campus has a great range of facilities including student services, refectories and even training restaurants run by hospitality students. All three campuses have training salons offering treatments to the public. There is an Aeronautical Engineering Training Centre at the Ayr Campus.
There is also the Skills Centre of Excellence based at Irvine Royal Academy, which offers courses in engineering.
The Willie Mackie Skills Hub is a cutting-edge, low-carbon facility at the Kilwinning campus, focused on vocational training in sustainable and SMART technologies, alongside traditional construction trades.
