This course will develop knowledge and skills required of a dental nurse to enable safe and effective working practice within a variety of dental settings.
This course includes practice placement within a dental setting to prepare learners for employment as a dental nurse. In addition, theory and simulated practical skills will be taught in the Dental School's state-of-the-art clinical teaching rooms.
The course covers the following:
Conservative dentistry; dental radiography; endodontic treatment; minor oral surgery; health and safety; decontamination and cross infection control; signs, symptoms, causes and prevention and treatment of oral disease.
2 subjects at National 5 including English; or Dental Nursing (Level 5). Interview.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
You will be required to be immunised in line with Occupational Health's recommendation.
HNC in Dental Nursing or the SVQ at SCQF Level 7 in Dental Nursing or a Modern Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing.
