This course will provide the underpinning knowledge, skills and expertise to register with the General Dental Council as a qualified Dental Nurse. This course includes a practice placement within a dental setting to develop enhanced skills, knowledge and expertise.

Subjects:
Dental anatomy; dental charting systems; conservative dentistry; dental radiography; endodontic treatment; minor oral surgery; health and safety; decontamination and cross infection control; signs, symptoms, causes; prevention and treatment of oral disease.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including English or Dental Nursing (Level 6). Participation at an information session, skills assessment and interview forms part of the selection criteria.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

You will be required to be immunised in line with Occupational Health's recommendation.

Progression Routes

Employment as a Dental Nurse or articulation or HND Dental Nursing.
