This course will provide foundation knowledge and skills required of a dental nurse to enable the safe and effective working practice within a variety of dental settings. The course also includes a practice placement within a dental setting to prepare learners for employment within their chosen profession.
dental charting systems; conservative dentistry; dental radiography; endodontic treatment; minor oral surgery; health and safety; decontamination and cross infection control; signs, symptoms, causes and prevention; treatment of oral disease.
3 subjects at National 4 including English. You will attend an information session, skills assessment and interview.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
You will be required to be immunised in line with Occupational Health's recommendation.
Employment as a student dental nurse or possible articulation on to Dental Nursing (Level 6). You may also be considered for the Modern Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing award.
