Biomedical Sciences encompasses a broad range of inter-related life sciences disciplines. These concern the structure and function of the human body in health and disease.

Biomedical scientists research new and improved ways to diagnose and treat human diseases. These contribute to improvements in human health and wellbeing in general.

At Dundee the biomedical sciences focus on: the structure and normal function of the human body; the effects of disease and ways to prevent and treat disease; the study of anatomy in relation to health, disease and human identification; the study of physiology from the molecular level to that of the whole organism; understanding how the brain and nervous system function in health and disease; understanding how drugs work.

Entry Requirements

2025 entry requirements:
4 Highers at BBBB (BBCC for widening access entry) including Biology and Chemistry plus Maths at National 5 at B.

Advanced entry to 2nd year available with Advanced Higher Biology and Chemistry at AB or BA plus Highers at BB plus Maths at National 5 at B.
