Access to Nursing with ESOL is delivered in partnership with the Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP). It is designed for adults returning to education whose first language is not English, and provides the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to progress to degree-level programmes in nursing or other health-related fields—such as paramedic science—or to further study on related HNC courses.
The programme is recognised by partner universities as an alternative to traditional entry qualifications. It also offers intensive guidance and support to build confidence, strengthen core skills, and maximise the likelihood of successful progression to higher education.
You'll be introduced to various healthcare subjects to enable you to progress to a university degree or a health-related field at HNC level. The course also develops confidence, core skills to maximise chances of successful progression to higher education. You'll learn through groupwork, lectures, industry visits and guest speakers.
National 5 ESOL. You must be out of education for at least 3 years. Entry is based on interview and a satisfactory reference.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
