If you want to work in healthcare, this 18-week course will give you a broad knowledge of the standards and approaches that support care practice. You get an introduction to essential basic caring skills in our clinical skills lab and learn from our guest healthcare experts.

This introductory course can be a springboard for further studies and also gives you a qualification to prepare you for working in the health and social services sector.

Examples of the units that may be undertaken in the Access to Health Care (Level 5) course include the following.

Preparing to work in healthcare settings: Providing confidence and clinical knowledge to work in the sector.

Values and principles: A clear introduction to the expectations of professional care and support.

Health and safety for care: Helps you understand how to reduce risks to patients / clients and staff
First Aid: Introducing you to life saving skills.

Understanding mental health: Promotes your resilience and provides deeper awareness of issues faced by patients / clients.

Lifeskills: Introduces a range of everyday skills to support individuals and families.
