This course is a stepping stone to your career in care. If you are interested in developing the knowledge and skills needed for working in the health and social care professions then this course will give you the preparation needed to either secure employment or progress onto a relevant Level 6 course at college. You will learn the importance of care, compassion and kindness and how to develop your existing skills to support others.

The course includes:

Social Influences; Human Development and Behaviour; Social services in Scotland; Mental Health Issues; Volunteer Award; Communication, numeracy and IT.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 4 including English. Interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

You can progress to SCQF Level 5 courses in Health and Social Care or other SCQF Level 5 courses at West Lothian College.
