Content

Scottish Wider Access Programmes, also known as SWAP courses, are for adults who have few or no formal qualifications and who have been out of full-time education for at least three years (five years if you have Highers or an HN).

This course gives you an introduction to health and social care professions and the career paths available in these areas. It allows you to begin your studies at level 6 on a generic programme studying subjects such as care and psychology.

You will study:
Human development; Social influences; Values and principles; Dementia; Individual behaviour; Group behaviour; Research; Communication; Literature; Biology; Reflective practice.

Entry Requirements

Entry is by informal discussion where you will be asked to demonstrate that you have the relevant life skills to successfully complete the SWAP course.
