The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to meet the needs of people using care services. This course gives you an understanding of what you will need to know to work successfully in a care practice setting.
You'll learn about:
The needs of individuals and an awareness of the care services that can meet these needs; The ways in which positive care practice is based on legislation, values, principles, knowledge and skills; The ways in which social influences can impact on people, and the relevance of this for care practice; Psychological theories and sociological concepts to care issues and scenarios.
You may have the opportunity for a volunteering or work placement as part of this course.
3 subjects at National 4, English preferred, or Health and Social Care (Level 4) . Entry subject to interview, personal statement and reference.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
After successfully completing this course you will have the knowledge and skills needed to apply for a caring role, or you could develop your skills further by studying another course, such as NC Early Education and Childcare or SWAP Access to Nursing (additional criteria applies).
