Content

This course is for those wanting to work in the health and social care profession. and will allow you to progress on to HNC study. You will cover areas such as care, communication, first aid, mental health and caring for people with dementia. There is also the opportunity for a work placement.

You'll gain skills and knowledge for a career in the care sector such as nursing homes, residential homes, and resource centres for people with learning disabilities. You'll learn about who needs care, provision available and the roles and responsibilities of the care worker. You'll learn through groupwork, lectures, industry visits and guest speakers.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 5 including English, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview and entry test.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
