East End Campus
The course comprises 10 units delivered over one year. The course promotes and instils the values and skills required to work within a health care field. It is delivered using a variety of teaching methods including tutorials, group work, self-directed study and simulation.
Units include:
Principles of Professional Practice; Understanding Personal and Professional Development; Essential Skills for Care; Safe Working Practice for Care; Physiology for Care Professions; Therapeutic Relationships: understanding behaviour; Sociology for Care Practice; Individual Pathways in Health and Social Care; Learning Through Practice; The Graded Unit
2 Highers, preferably English and a science subject plus National 5 Maths, or Access to Nursing (SWAP), or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview and pre-entry test part of the entry process.
Interview and written test. You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
Students can progress on to university or into employment within the care field.
