This programme offers you an opportunity to learn about the Health and Social Care professions and the career paths are available in these areas. It allows you to begin your studies at SCQF Level 6 on a generic programme working towards Highers - Higher Care and Higher Psychology. The course is designed to support you to work towards university entrance over 1 or 2 years and is designed to offer the widest range of learning experiences to suit you.
Towards the end of Semester 1, (December) you will be assessed based on an agreed set of criteria (details given at interview) which will determine the most appropriate progression route. These routes will be:
Route A – Access to Nursing Degrees studying Higher Care, Higher Psychology and Communication 4/Literacy 1 (equivalent to Higher English for university entrance)
Route B – Access to Care HNCs studying Higher Care, Higher units in Psychology and the National Progression Award in Health and Social Care: Promoting Reablement, with placement experience
You can apply to University for Nursing either straight from Route A or after completing an HNC on Route B.
4 subjects at National 5 including English at A or B; or NC Child, Health and Social Care; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview.
