This programme provides the opportunity for progression to a nursing degree (adult or mental health nursing) at UWS and other universities with a Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) agreement. The course is challenging and considerable study will be required out with college time.
Students with a good support network tend to be more successful. You must be able to cope with the demands placed on you for study and placement as you are developing a career path where you will be supporting others.
The programme may include the following units, which will be a combination of National 5, and Higher Units: Values and Principles in Care, Caring for People with Dementia, Application of Mathematics, Communication, Information and Communication Technology, Environmental Biology and Genetics, Ensure Your Own Actions Support the Care, Protection and Wellbeing of Individuals and Preparation for Higher Education. You will receive input from SWAP and UWS during the programme to support you to apply to university.
This programme is developed for adults who are returning to education and left school with no, few or qualifications which are now out of date. Entry subject to interview and advice session.
