This course will introduce you to the different areas and different people who use the services available within the Health and Social Care sector. It provides an important opportunity for students to develop soft skills and interpersonal skills within a care context. The course explores how critical it is to provide effective and efficient provision of care.

You will learn all about working in the health sector, focusing on key topics such as roles and responsibilities in the industry, improving health and wellbeing, accident prevention and emergency procedures and psychology and sociology for care. You will also look at values and principles in care work and the life sciences industry as a whole, whilst developing fundamental skills in literacy, numeracy and IT.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 4 including English. A genuine aptitude for working with people and good communication skills is very important.
