Biomedical scientists are responsible for conducting vitally important scientific tests, which underpin the diagnosis and treatment of human disease. This cutting-edge scientific analysis contributes greatly to the clinical outcomes of patients.

Taught by a combination of academic experts and clinical professionals, this wide-ranging programme is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS)

After following a common pathway for two years, you’ll take either the Standard or the Applied programme route. The Applied route includes an 18-week placement, some taking place in award winning laboratories, and is particularly relevant for those keen to become a Biomedical Scientist in the NHS. The Applied route is Approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

2025 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 4 Highers at BBBC including Biology or Human Biology at B plus English, Maths and Chemistry at National 5. Applications of Maths is accepted at B.

Widening access entry: 3 Highers at BBC including Biology or Human Biology at B plus English, Maths and Chemistry at National 5. Applications of Maths is accepted at B

Entry to year 2 is available with 3 Highers at BBB including Biology and Chemistry.
