Content

This is an industry led course which supports the apprenticeship scheme and is SECTT (Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust) approved and sponsored. All the units are relevant to the work required of a first year apprentice and on successful completion, you’ll have the opportunity to sit the SECTT entrance exam.

It’s a mixture of practical hand skills and theory, and you’ll work in an environment which simulates a real life workplace.

You will: learn about electrical principles and basic electrical concepts; look at the basic electrical circuit elements; learn about cable ratings and the dangers of overcurrent in a circuit; look at earthing; develop skills in installing PVC sheathed wiring systems; learn about Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs); develop skills in using electrical test equipment; study maths in an engineering context.
