The starting salary for an unqualified trainee smart meter installer on the Trainee Smart Meter Installer Programme is normally around £18,000 a year. Once qualified this rises to around £26,000 a year. With experience, this can rise to between £30,000 and £40,000 a year. There are usually other benefits, such as company pension and bonus schemes.
