Content includes:
learn electrical principles, from basics to High Voltage (HV) generators; explore fundamental electrical circuit elements and cable ratings; understand the dangers of overcurrent in a circuit, including cable current capacity and overcurrent protection devices; dive into earthing techniques and earth fault current protection; develop skills in installing PVC sheathed wiring systems and fabricating/installing trunking systems; master Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and create programs for industrial processes; gain expertise in using electrical test equipment for safe and accurate measurements; study maths in an engineering context and enhance IT skills with relevant software packages; and, conclude with a comprehensive understanding of health and safety in the construction industry.
4 subjects at National 5 including Maths or Physics, or SVQ Performing Engineering Operations (Electrical) at SCQF Level 5, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview.
Relevant HNC or Modern Apprenticeship.
