The NC sound production course will develop your skills in audio technology. On successful completion of the NC, you will be introduced to a wide array of areas within the world of sound

You will record music using microphones and line input devices, then transfer this audio to a Digital Audio Workstation to arrange, edit and mix into a song. You will learn how to utilise MIDI, so you can compose music, using the computer as your orchestra. You will learn how to install and use a live sound system, in order to reinforce music and speech. Underpinning all of this is the development of your core skills in a creative environment and the fundamental knowledge underpinning all of the areas of the world of sound.

Subjects include:
Recording; Live Sound; MIDI Sequencing; Audio Editing; Signal Path; Remixing; Music Business; Music Appreciation; Music Promotion; Radio Programming.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5. English, Computing Science, Music or Physics is preferred. Or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview.
