The course is based on project and studio work and covers fashion communication, drawing, design development, pattern drafting and manufacturing skills. In year one, you will learn design development, CAD design, pattern cutting and garment manufacture using industrial methods and how to communicate this through fashion.
In year 2, you will become more independent in your approach to learning. You will work on personal research and other projects using both traditional and digital media to illustrate/communicate your ideas. You will take your designs through to a final collection and be encouraged to challenge tried-and-tested methods of fashion communication, preparing you for moving on to university or directly into employment.
Contents include:
Fashion styling, imagery and branding; Fashion illustration; Fashion forecasting and research; Business communications; Digital skills - Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; Pattern development; Industrial sewing techniques.
2 Highers, preferably in Art and English. Relevant qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Portfolio.
2nd or 3rd year entry to relevant degree programme.
