The HND Textiles course is a contemporary and innovative course that provides an advanced design education for students with a strong interest in the wider specialist areas of Textiles. The course allows students to progress onto Degree level study or employment in the fields of Textiles, Print, Weave, Knit, Fashion Design, Fashion Illustration, Retail Technology and Communications.

Developmental Drawing; Observational Drawing; Portfolio Production; Design Semantics; Professional Design Practice; Textiles Accessory: An Introduction; Textile Techniques: An Introduction; History of Textiles; Printed Textiles: An Introduction; Surface Decoration for Textiles: An Introduction; Designing and Producing a Fashion Garment: An Introduction; Concept Garment Design: An Introduction; Textiles: Graded Unit 1; Digital Imaging.

Year 2

Observational Drawing Portfolio; Fabric Construction: An Introduction; Surface Decoration for Textiles: Advanced; Textiles Accessory: Advanced; Textile Techniques: Advanced; Printed Textiles: Advanced; Exhibition of Contemporary Artform; Concept Garment Design: Advanced; Textiles: Graded Unit 2; Art and Design Project; Creative Project for Artists and Designers.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers; or Art and Design - Fashion and Textiles Diploma Level 3 (UAL); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview and portfolio.
