This HND Fashion Textiles course is a highly creative, design-led course that embraces all aspects of surface decoration, fabric construction, drawing and design development related to fashion, interior, and accessory design. Throughout the course you will also explore print, knit, weave, embroidery and garment and product construction skills. The college has extensive links within industry that allow you to get an insight into the job roles and opportunities within the Fashion and Textile industry.
Content:
Screen printing for both fashion and interiors; Fabric manipulation and surface decoration skills; Machine and hand embroidery; Drawing and media exploration in relation to design development; Knitted and woven textiles; Construction technical skills; Sketch book development and exploration; Design process; Digital imaging and its application in design; Creative research and its context in design; Live industry awareness projects in collaboration with high profile companies; Sustainability; Communication skills.
1 Higher in an art based subject; or Foundation in Fashion and Textiles (Level 6), or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.
2nd or 3rd year of a relevant degree programme or employment in the textile industry; Modern Apprenticeship within the textile sector.
