This exciting course has been developed with a focus on the film, screen and live events industry. The course will be specifically focussed Textiles and Costume, Prop Design and Scenic Arts with sustainable practice running throughout.
While the SQA award successful students will gain is HND Art & Design, the title of Production Arts will be used throughout the course as it better reflects the content.
The Film, screen and live events industry in Scotland is growing rapidly and as Forth Valley College were recently funded by Screen Scotland to deliver a film and screen qualification for schools, this course has been developed to complement this work and to support the development of this growing industry both locally and nationally.
Throughout the course students will be building knowledge and creative skills in a variety of areas including textiles, costume, 3D design, and applied mixed media. The course combines elements of traditional and contemporary applied design processes.
The course will also be focused on sustainable production practices following the core principles of longevity, reuse and deconstruction throughout.
This is a practically focussed qualification that supports learners to develop skills in Production Design, namely Props, Costume and Textiles and Scenic Arts
2 Highers including Art and Design, English preferred plus National 5 English (if not held at Higher), or Foundation Apprenticeship Creative and Digital Media plus Higher Art and Design, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview and portfolio.
