This is a unique and highly creative Associate Degree Programme that is directly linked into year 3 of the Woven and Printed Textile Pathways at Heriot-Watt University. Students will be dual enrolled at both institutes and will be based at the Cardonald Campus for the first two years of the course where they will follow a discreet HND Textile programme focusing on woven and printed textiles. At the end of year 2 students will transfer to Heriot-Watt University Galashiels Campus to complete year 3 and 4 of the degree, where they will specialise in one of the pathways.

Sketchbook development and exploration; Design development and research; Drawing and media exploration; Surface decoration and fabric manipulation; Printed textiles; Knitted textiles; Woven textiles; Garment manufacture skills; pattern drafting and construction; Yarn and fibre research and development; Photoshop and Illustrator skills to develop the design process; Creative research and its context in design; Live industry awareness projects in collaboration with high-profile companies; Sustainability and responsible design; Promotional and marketing skills; Communication skills; Meta skills.

Entry Requirements

3 Highers at B including English and Art and Design. A portfolio showing evidence of drawing and design development.

Progression Routes

3rd year entry to BA Textiles at Heriot-Watt University (guaranteed on successful completion of two year HND programme).
