This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of the Film and TV industries, using a combination of academic and practical learning and teaching. If you are interested in a career in TV or Film, or further study specifically in this area, this course is for you.

You will gain understanding of job roles and responsibilities, industry processes, and factors affecting content development and distribution in the screen industries. You will learn about screen narrative and analyse professional screen texts. You will also learn how to use camera and sound recording equipment, lighting and editing software.

Content includes:

Pitch proposals; Research and develop content; Script; Carry out pre-production tasks such as recces and risk assessments; Organise shoots, using relevant tools such as shot lists and call sheets; Operate camera, sound and lighting equipment and editing software; Work as a part of a group to produce short videos; Screen your work to your peers; Evaluate your performance in different roles; Write reports and essays; Deliver presentations.

3 subjects at National 5. Interview and portfolio.
