This two-year course allows you to study mechanical engineering to a professional standard. On completion of this course you'll typically go to university, or move into industry as supervisors or technician. Find job profiles and opportunities here.

This course involves the use of the college’s extensive engineering equipment, which includes a fully functioning mechanical workshop and computer labs running CAD design software, hydraulic pneumatic software and labs.

Year one:
for Engineers; Thermofluids; Statics and Strength of Materials; Materials Selection and Testing; Pneumatics and Hydraulics.

Year two:
Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Maths 4, Business Awareness and Continuing Professional Development, Design for Manufacture and Graded Unit 2.

Entry Requirements

HNC Mechanical Engineering. You must be employed in engineering and be sponsored by your company.

Progression Routes

You may apply to third year of Glasgow Caledonian University's BEng Renewable Energy Degree programs, BEng Mechanical with CadB Eng/BSc programs at other universities, or an Incorporated Engineer qualification.
