This course is designed to make sure you meet the varied needs of the industry. The aim of this HNC is to provide you with practical skills in advanced theories of mechanical engineering systems using the latest simulation and design software. You will study a variety of technical subjects including Statics and Strength of Materials, Materials Selection, Thermofluids and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).

The subjects will be taught at a high level and will allow you to develop transferable skills which are essential for your future engineering career.

Statics and Strength of Materials; Materials Selection; Dynamics; Pneumatics and Hydraulics; Engineering Mathematics 1; Thermofluids; Engineering Principles; Mechanical Engineering: Graded Unit 1; Quality Management: An Introduction; Communication: Practical Skills; Engineering Measurement; Computer-Aided Draughting for Engineers.

Entry Requirements

Higher Maths and preferably Physics or another science or technological subject; or NC Engineering Systems; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. You may be invited to attend interview and sit an aptitude test.

Progression Routes

HND Mechanical Engineering or articulation to year 1 of a relevant university degree course.
