Abertay University was originally founded as the Dundee Technical Institute in 1888. It lies right in the heart of Dundee city centre, and all its campuses are within a quarter of a mile of each other.

Facilities and services
Abertay University has many great facilities to offer its students including White Space located on the ground floor of the university’s Kydd Building; the award winning Bernard King Library which includes fully equipped seminar rooms, study rooms and a language centre; a Student Centre which is the cultural and social hub of the city campus; and Sport@Abertay, which plays an important part of university life, with over 20 sports clubs on offer. The Hannah Maclure Centre provides an informal and cultural space for students including a state-of-the-art cinema and performance stage and the Students’ Association offers a wide range of societies covering all interests.

Abertay University is ranked in the top 10 for teaching quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020.
The prestigious Princeton Review (2020) rankings show Abertay is the top institution in Europe for undergraduate games education and is in the global top 10 at postgraduate level.
