First Year: Introduces Biology largely as Human Biology with accompanying modules in Applied and Environmental Biology. Additional subjects include Quantitative Techniques for Biologists and Chemistry as required for an understanding of future modules in Biochemistry and Physiology.
Second Year: Considers broad topics in Biology, including Cell and Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Human Anatomy and Physiology, as well as Nutrition and Health.
Third Year: Provides increased specialisation in aspects of Cell and Molecular Biology, Nutrition and Human Health and Cardiovascular and Exercise Biology, with the possibility to study Microbial Pathology or Sport and Exercise Psychology.
Fourth Year: You will study a selection of advanced level modules from the Biology and Sport and Exercise Science Programmes, covering topics such as Molecular Toxicology, Molecular Nutrition, Epigenetics, Immunology, Microbial Pathology and Health, Lifestyle and Disease, while a research project provides the practical component of the final year of study.
2021 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 4/5 Highers at AABB or ABBBB including one from Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Human Biology or Physics plus English and Maths at National 5.
Widening access entry: 4 Highers at BBBC including Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Human Biology or Physics at B plus English and Maths at National 5.
For entry to Level 2 you would require 2 Advanced Highers at BB including Biology or Human Biology plus 4 or 5 Highers at AABB or ABBBB.
