Years 1, 2 and 3
In addition to core mathematical methods, you’ll study applied analysis, mechanics, numerical analysis and statistics. You also choose elective classes.

In later years, you’ll choose from a range of Mathematics and Statistics classes from one or more specialist areas.

Years 4 and 5
You’ll undertake a project and choose from classes in topics such as financial derivatives, mathematical modelling in biology and medicine, numerical analysis, and the mathematics of networks.

Entry Requirements

2023 entry requirements

Standard entry:
4 or 5 Highers at AAAB or AABBB including Maths at A plus English at National 5. Higher English and Advanced Higher Maths preferred.

Widening access entry:
4 Highers at AABB including Maths at A; or ABBB including Maths at A and one from Biology, Chemistry, Computing Science, Engineering Science or Physics plus English at National 5. Higher English preferred.

For entry to year 2 you would require 2 Advanced Highers at AA including Maths.
