Are you interested in a rewarding career in applied science? Then this may be the course for you with potential progression to study in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular science, forensics and pharmacy to name a few.

The HNC Applied Science programme is a one year programme covering 15 credits from the HNC Applied Science Framework. This is a chemistry focused programme. The programme is designed to give you a broad overview of the applied sciences area and covers subjects such as organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, instrumentation, biochemistry, maths and statistics.

You will build up an excellent understanding of a broad range of scientific concepts and skills, including:

Organic chemistry; Inorganic chemistry; Mathematics and statistics; Physics; and, Cell biology.

You will also take part in practical units to develop your experience of scientific techniques and equipment.

This course is taught on a day-release basis.

Entry Requirements

Higher Chemistry plus English, Maths, Biology and Chemistry at National 5, or NQ Steps Into Science (Level 6); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6
