Content

This course will help develop your fundamental knowledge and understanding of cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry and environmental issues. You will develop a range of scientific and practical laboratory skills, all of which will prepare you for employment at a junior technical level within the bioscience industries.

Units include:

Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Micro-organisms, Quality and Health and Safety Systems in Science Industries, Environmental Awareness, ICT, Bioscience Graded Unit 1, Plant Growth and Development, Chemistry and Physics Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Livestock Growth: Health and Welfare, Livestock Breeding, Animal and Plant Cell Culture, Livestock Physiology, Plant Physiology and Personal Development Planning.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including Biology (or Human Biology) plus English and Maths at National 5; or Foundation Apprenticeship Scientific Technologies (Laboratory Skills) plus Higher Biology (or Human Biology); or NQ Animal Biology and Conservation; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.
