This IOP-recognised astronomy and planetary science route through our SNS-accredited BSc (Honours) Natural Sciences (Q64) develops the knowledge and skills you need to study outer space. You’ll study topics like our solar system, planets orbiting other stars, the life cycle of stars, extreme conditions near black holes, and the evolutionary history of the Universe. Using appropriate quantitative tools and observational methods, you’ll be able to objectively and quantitatively describe, analyse, test and explain phenomena in the Universe.
There are no formal qualifications required to study this degree. Computer and internet access required.
If you’re new to study or to the OU, it is recommended that you start with a course at Level 1.
Science graduates are well placed to enter a range of both scientific and non-scientific jobs. The study of science develops good analytical and numerical skills, and students also become proficient in using computers.
