Content

This Society for Natural Sciences-accredited and IOP-recognised physics route through our BSc (Honours) Natural Sciences (Q64) takes you from broad scientific principles to cutting-edge physics. You’ll apply classical, quantum, and relativistic concepts to phenomena from subatomic particles to black holes, using mathematical tools and experimental methods. Practical investigations and data analysis develop your analytical and problem-solving skills. This route equips you for careers or further study in physics, research, engineering, or technology, providing a solid foundation in understanding the physical world at both the smallest and largest scales, as well as the skills to explore it quantitatively and rigorously.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal qualifications required to study this degree. Computer and internet access required.

If you’re new to study or to the OU, it is recommended that you start with a course at Level 1.

Progression Routes

Science graduates are well placed to enter a range of both scientific and non-scientific jobs. The study of science develops good analytical and numerical skills, and students also become proficient in using computers.
