As well as providing a sound theoretical understanding of science to allow future study at HNC/D or university, this course will also involve a great deal of practical work which will be of direct relevance to local interests, industries or topical issues. This will ensure you acquire a broad base of laboratory knowledge and expertise, of great value in the job market. Examples of practical activities might include testing of aerodynamic design and efficiency by use of a wind tunnel, synthesis and testing of biodiesels and the study of how enzymes work in our bodies.
You will study:
Chemistry; Physics; Biology; Maths; Biotechnology; Laboratory investigations; Science and technology. The opportunity to specialise in either physical science subjects (chemistry and physics) or in life sciences subjects (chemistry and biology).
Maths and 2 science subjects at National 5 at B; or NC Applied Science (Level 5).
