This hands-on degree allows you to analyse a variety of scenes and learn the following physical and chemical analysis techniques in state-of-the-art laboratories:

Crime scene investigation; Body fluid analysis; DNA profiling; Forensic chromatography and spectroscopy; Fingerprinting; Substances of abuse.

This highly vocational programme is broken down into three main study areas – forensic science, chemistry and biology – and dovetails modules from the Division of Law to prepare you for a variety of workplace situations.

The MSci programme allows students to progress from the BSc Hons to a 5th year of study. It is designed to give you an extra edge in the competitive job market by enhancing the knowledge and skills that are part of our BSc (Hons) Forensic Sciences programme. You’ll deep-dive into core forensic science subjects, further supported by the study of law and embedded statistics.

Entry Requirements

2020 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 4 Highers at BBBB including Chemistry plus National 5 English, Maths and Biology at National 5.

Widening access entry: 3 Highers at BBC including Chemistry plus National 5 English, Maths and Biology at National 5.

For entry to second year, you must have 3 Advanced Highers at BBB including Biology or Human Biology and Chemistry.
