Discover the forensic techniques that underpin the interpretation of legal evidence on this highly practical and accredited degree.

You'll examine crime scenes and analyse evidence, learning techniques including fingerprint development, body fluid examination and the analysis of drugs. There are fact-finding field trips to places like the mortuary and the option to observe bomb disposal experts at work.

Along the way you'll have the opportunity to go on a work placement and hear lectures from organisations like the Scottish Police Authority. The course also covers forensic responses to recent disasters, and topics like identifying human remains through DNA, tattoos, piercings, and more.

You'll graduate with all the forensic expertise you'll need to support the legal process, ready to start your professional career.

Standard entry: 4 Highers at BBBC including 1 from Biology (or Human Biology), Chemistry or Physics plus English and Maths at National 5. National 5 Chemistry at B (if not held at Higher).

Widening access entry: 3 Highers at BBC including 1 from Biology (or Human Biology), Chemistry or Physics at B plus English and Maths at National 5. National 5 Chemistry at B (if not held at Higher).

For entry to second year, you must have 3 Advanced Highers at BBB including Biology and Chemistry.
