Semesters 1 – 3:
During the first year and a half (semesters 1 – 3) students take foundation courses in Cell Biology, Physiology, Ecology and Evolution, Molecular Biology and Genetics.

Semesters 4 – 6:
Choices include: Animal Diversity, Animal Physiology, Microbiology, Ecology, Aquatic Environments, Plant Biology, Molecular Cell Biology, Marine Biology, Macromolecular Structure, Enzymology, Plant Ecophysiology, Control and Development, Asking Questions in Biology.

Semester 7:
Choices include: Stress Physiology, Advanced Ecology, Advanced Marine Biology, Advanced Cell Biology, Wildlife Conservation, Animal Field Course (Kenya), Plant Field Course, Marine Biology Field Course, Techniques in Microscopy, Molecular Biology or Protein Biochemistry.

Semester 8:
Research project: Students spend up to half a year conducting an independent research project in the Department of Biological Sciences or in association with publicly-funded research stations and institutes at home or abroad.

Entry Requirements

2025 entry requirements:
4 Highers at AABB including Maths.

For entry to the 3 year honours degree course, you would need 3 Advanced Highers at ABB including Maths and Biology.
