Studying for a Foundation Apprenticeship gives you the chance to combine qualifications such as Skills for Work (SfW) National Subjects or National Progression Awards (NPAs) with practical work experience in industry.
The Foundation Apprenticeship (FA) in Automotive is for pupils staying on at school. You can choose this FA as one of your subjects in S3 - S6.
These vary depending on which year you are in when you start the Foundation Apprenticeship. It could range from no formal entry requirements to some subjects at National 3 or 4. Check with your school for details.
You will learn about different aspects of the automotive industry, including cars, vehicle modification, the garage environment and the work of a technician.
You will develop the skills and knowledge though completion of a Skills for Work (SfW) National Subject in Automotive Skills as well as working closely with an employer.
