Studying for a Foundation Apprenticeship gives you the chance to combine qualifications such as Skills for Work (SfW) National Subjects or National Progression Awards (NPAs) with practical work experience in industry.
The Foundation Apprenticeship (FA) in Construction is for pupils staying on at school. You can choose this FA as one of your subjects in S3 - S6.
These vary depending on which year you are in when you start the Foundation Apprenticeship. It could range from no formal entry requirements to some subjects at National 3 or 4. Check with your school for details.
You will learn about different aspects of the construction industry, which can include technical aspects such as 3D modelling and the practical skills, such as painting and decorating, carpentry and bench joinery.
You will develop your skills and knowledge through completion of a National Progression Award (NPA) as well as working closely with an employer.
