First Year: Circuit theory, computers, programming and software engineering are studied and students are introduced to practical experimentation.
Second Year: Analysis of Electrical and Electronic Systems is complemented by further study of Programming and Software Development. The design process is introduced through analogue and digital project assignments. External options may be used to pursue a foreign language in preparation for an exchange visit during the Third Year:.
Third Year: Emphasis turns to design synthesis. Subjects include Energy Systems, Power Electronics, Communications and Signals Processing. Group project in digital/analogue electronics and robotics.
Fourth Year: Topics include Embedded Systems; Image/Signal Processing; Digital and Analogue Electronic Systems; Computer and Internet Engineering; Mobile and Digital Communications; Microwaves and Photonics; Real time Control and Robotics; Electronics and Microsystems Engineering, Power and High Voltage Engineering, Foundations of Energy, Renewable Energy Technology. Individual project with dissertation.
2020 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 5 Highers at BBBBC including Maths and Engineering Science or Physics plus English at National 5.
Widening access entry: 4 Highers at BBBC including Maths and Engineering Science or Physics plus English at National 5.
For entry to Level 2 you would require Advanced Higher Maths and Physics at BB plus 4 Highers at AABB.
