The Pre-apprenticeship programme in Electronic Fire and Security Systems is an exciting new course which has been developed to support the needs of our dynamic and innovative industry. The course is designed for school-leavers or those who are interested in securing an apprenticeship in the fire and security systems sector.

This qualification provides the underpinning knowledge for those wishing to seek employment in the fire and security industry. The course covers the following content:

Intruder alarms systems; Fire detection systems; CCTV systems; Access control systems.

The qualification covers electrical and electronic principles as well as working effectively and safely in the electro-technical environment. There are also aspects of carrying out basic occupational surveying of property to be able to design the above systems.

Entry Requirements

National 4 English and Maths, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview.
