This programme combines the NC Welding and Fabrication with the SVQ Performing Engineering Operations SCQF 5 (Fabrication and Welding Route). These qualifications satisfy the foundation training for a modern apprenticeship in fabrication and welding engineering.

Units may include:
Practical skills in welding processes such as MMA, MIG, TIG NDT; Fabrication plate work and thermal cutting; Interpreting specifications, drawings and plans; Health and safety; Engineering, maths and information technology.

You will also develop your core, employability, enterprise and citizenship skills.

Entry Requirements

National 4 English, Maths and a science or technological subject, SfW Engineering Skills preferred. Interview.

Progression Routes

Successful completion of this course can be used to help you secure employment as a second year apprentice, as the course provides you with the necessary qualifications that satisfy the foundation training for the Modern Apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding Engineering.
