The structure of the course takes into account the national manufacturing agenda, driven by the Manufacturing Action Plan, the Scottish Government's initiative to create ‘A Manufacturing Future for Scotland’. At the route of these developments is the emergence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, where technology and advanced manufacture will play a key role in the future of manufacturing.

Based on industry and education predictions and forecasting, there is a clear need for a workforce that can adjust to and develop advanced technologies such as 3D modelling. This course will provide you with the skills needed to engage with these innovations and become part of Scotland's future.

Core modules will include:
Advanced manufacturing technologies; CAD: 3D printing and scanning; Internet of things.

You will also study 1 of the following optional modules:
Robotic systems; Artificial intelligence.

Entry Requirements

1 relevant Higher plus National 5 English, Maths and a science subject, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.

Progression Routes

You may wish to progress from PDA Advanced Manufacturing (SCQF level 7) to HNC Engineering Systems.
