Content

This course will give you a technical grounding in Electrical Installation, Safety, and Instrumentation and will cover the following subjects:

Mathematics Technician; Communications Engineering; IT Applications; Electrical Principles; Fundamental Electrical Systems; Electrical Testing and Measurement; Cable Ratings and Overcurrent Protection; Earthing and Earth Faults Protection; Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations; Single Phase and 3 Phase Principles; Applications of Programmable Logic Controllers; Installation of Conduit Systems; Installation of Trunking Systems; Installation of PVC Sheathed Wiring Systems.

You will be assessed throughout each unit. You will need to achieve all units to successfully complete the course.

Successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a NC in Electrical Engineering Level 6.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including Maths and Physics or a technological subject (Applications of Maths not accepted), or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview and aptitude test.

Relevant HNC course or Modern Apprenticeship.
