This course has been designed as an entry route into a career as an engineering professional. You will take part in both electrical and mechanical practical and classroom activities, allowing you to gain and enhance your engineering knowledge and ability.

On successfully completing this course, you will be able to progress onto a SCQF Level 5 engineering course or enter the workplace, typically in a trainee or junior technician role.

This course is ideal if you have an interest in engineering and want to turn that into a profession. It will allow you to develop practical skills across a range of mechanical, electrical and electronic subjects, alongside the knowledge and theory you will need as an engineering professional.

Course content includes:

Machining; Welding knowledge; Hand skills; Electronic circuit construction; Assembly skills; Fabrication
Core skills: Numeracy, Communication and IT.

Entry Requirements

A maths based subject at National 3 or 4. Interview.

Progression Routes

Progress into further study at SCQF Level 5 in Engineering Performance or Electronic Engineering subjects.
