This course provides you with the knowledge and skills in a range of core fabrication, welding, quality, materials and inspection systems principles and technologies.

You will achieve a degree of specialisation within fabrication, welding, shipbuilding and pipework engineering.

You will complete a range of units including:

Welding principles and applications 1; Welding principles and applications 2; Fabrication: Preparation, joining and assembly; Quality management: An introduction; Fabrication and welding materials; Inspection systems; Communication practical skills; Welding procedures: Specification, qualification and testing; Containers: Design and manufacture; Engineering drawing; Materials selection; Fabrication, welding and inspection: Graded Unit 1 examination.

Entry Requirements

A relevant NC or SVQ Level 3. Your application will be considered if you are an apprentice or if you have relevant experience with no formal qualifications.

Progression Routes

Relevant HND programme or employment in the fabrication and welding industry.
