This Graduate Apprenticeship BEng(Hons)/BEng Engineering (Design and Manufacture) pathway course, is an innovative partnership programme between Glasgow Clyde College and Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). Providing an alternative pathway to university and potential employment, the first year entails an enhanced HNC programme with seamless progression to one of GCU's esteemed engineering degrees.

The enhanced HNC offers a unique opportunity to be selected by industry leading employers as a Graduate Apprentice. This collaborative initiative involves GCU, Glasgow Clyde College and the engineering industry, and aligns with the objective of expanding access to Graduate Apprenticeships whilst offering pathways to engineering degrees.

Subjects studied on the BEng (Hons) / BEng Engineering (Design and Manufacture) pathway course include:

Electrical and electronic theory:
Electronic testing skills; Analogue electronic principles; DC and AC principles; Combinational logic; Networks and resonance; Communication skills; Active electronic circuits; Graded unit; Engineering software; Sequential logic; Engineering: Mathematics 1; Engineering: Mathematics 2; Engineering: Mathematics 3; Engineering: Mathematics 4.

Practical hands on work:
Engineering programming; Electrical and electronic testing and measurement; Microcontrollers; Electronic soldering and circuit assembly; WorldSkills: Industrial electronics.

Entry Requirements

3 Highers at CCC including Maths and Engineering Science or Physics (Foundation Apprenticeship Engineering accepted in place of one non-essential Higher).
