This NC in Fabrication and Welding offers the opportunity to learn the core skills and knowledge required in the industry. You will be able to benefit from a mixture of theoretical and practical classes which will introduce and expand any existing knowledge in a mixture of fabrication processes. You will be able to use the knowledge you have gained during the course using the machinery in our industry specification workshops.

The course is available to study as a full time course, and is also offered as a part time day release course for those currently employed in relevant industry roles.

Content Includes:
Communication core skill unit; Mathematics: Craft 1; Engineering: Using information technology; Fabrication processes; Welding processes; Health and safety: Engineering; Engineering project; MIG welding skills; Graphical communications; Engineering materials; Fabrication skills; MMA welding skills; TIG welding skills; Thermal cutting skills.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 4 including English, Maths and a science or technological subject; or Foundation Apprenticeship Engineering. Your application will also be considered if you are a current apprentice or have relevant experience but no formal qualifications.

Progression Routes

HNC Fabrication Welding and Inspection or the potential to move on to jobs in the manufacturing and ship building services.
