The course is aimed at those wanting to study electrical engineering at a more advanced level and gain employment as an electrical technician with organisations such as manufacturers or utility companies.
The course provides those essential skills needed, such as how to inspect and test an electrical system by using the latest test equipment and the ability to fully understand and analyse the performance of the system. If the system has electrical machines and motors, then you'll learn about those as well. Electronics and transformers are also covered to enable you to work with power supplies units and to further enhance what will be a great set of skills to see you well on your way to becoming an electrical technician.
The course includes:
Electrical systems including DC systems; Single and three-phase AC circuits; Electrical analytical techniques; Electrical machines; Complex circuit analysis; Mathematics.
3 subjects at National 5 including Maths. Interview. Pre-entry tests.
Successful applicants can move onto an apprenticeship or to higher education with the aim of becoming an electrical engineer
